Adventist Community Services meets people’s immediate needs through social services such as tutoring and mentoring programs, Youth Volunteer Corps, health screening education and assistance, inner city missions, and disaster response.
Community service is helping people, but also gaining an understanding about each other and a sense of human compassion. It is about building a stronger community whether on campus, in your neighborhood, city, state, or any other type of community. The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the family relation should be one uniting working people of all nations and tongues and kindreds (Abraham Lincoln) Yes, our greatness as a nation has depended on individual initiative, on a belief in the free market. But it has also depended on our sense of mutual regard for each other, of mutual responsibility. We know that government can't solve all our problems - and we don't want it to. But we also know that there are some things we can't do on our own and better together. (Barak Obama)
Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others. (Mathew 5:13-16) Serve God who Has given you several talents while you are alive and strong because you don’t know when your time comes. You don’t have to be a pastor to preach or bring people closer to God. As a servant of God, devote your life to serve Him Who gives all. One of the greatest investments you can make in your life is to serve others, thus the Lord who Has given you several talents.
